If you’re looking for a fun place to meet Latter-day Saints who are looking for love, LDS Planet might be the website for you. It’s a friendly and welcoming space where you can build a profile and chat to other Christians near you.

Whilst there are a couple of flaws in the system, it’s generally a very well designed and easy to use website, with simple pricing structures if you wish to become a full member. What’s more, it won’t cost you the world to join in, and you can quickly get chatting to other members.

The biggest selling point for this website is probably its specialism: this is a site for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. If you specifically wish to meet single people from this church, you’ll probably not find another site which is so dedicated in that manner.

The mix of members is great to see, though, with people of all walks of life, ages and ethnicities, many of whom live in the US. If you’re not from the states, you can also join up and find LDS members near you, so it’s worth trying out the free membership and performing a basic search to find out how many prospective dates live nearby.

Let’s talk money for a moment. This is one of the cheaper Christian dating sites we’ve come across, at under $9 a month for the longer contract.

Even the short term contracts are significantly cheaper than you might find elsewhere. Why? Well, the site doesn’t have quite the number of members as you might find on the larger Christian dating websites. However, as it is specialized, this is hardly a surprise.

We think it’s worth performing a quick search though, as we were pretty pleased by the number of members in our area. Another reason for the relatively low pricing might be that the site doesn’t have many community features and offers no video or audio options. As such, you are restricted to sending emails or engaging in live chats. This is fine, but if you’re looking for audio-visual options, you’ll need to look elsewhere.

You can search through the profiles in three key ways:

• The first is to check out your “matches”, which are automated recommendations based on your profile information. So, if you’ve said you are interested in women near you within a certain age range, you’ll find 5 instant matches (based on those preferences) waiting for you each day.
• The second option is to perform a search, which uses the same profile information but offers up many more results.
• Finally, you can search for members based on a few options (see a full list of these options in the “searching” portion of this review, above). However, we did feel that these were quite limited and didn’t offer much scope for finding members from outside of your locale.

We were pleased to see that a lot of the members had taken the time to upload a photo and include their information. There were also several online when we logged on, which is great to see, and you can get chatting to them instantly once you’ve paid for membership.

However, it was difficult to discern whether the other members were paying for the service or not, and as such you may find that you can’t actually speak to the people you’re most interested in because they haven’t yet paid for membership. This would easily be solved by adding a “paid member” icon on their profile pictures, but at the moment LDSplanet.com hasn’t added this feature.

Whilst LDS Planet feels safe and approachable, it does lack in some areas. That said, if you’re interested in meeting a member of the church of Latter-day Saints, this is a great place to begin the journey.
